After taking into consideration the comments I received during my midterm review, I decided that if I was going to make a move it should serve a purpose, and since now I had somewhat of a program I had a purpose to serve.
While in Kansas City, Missouri, we visited Zahner Metals. During a tour there I witness something that gave me a great idea. Instead of having a mesh sunscreen system I decided that I should use perforated panels designing them in a way to become operational serving the purpose I needed. I used this idea as the driving force behind my project. I also got rid of the curtain wall back up system and redesigned a girt and sub-girt system to fit my needs. Partnering the girt system with a nana wall window system would also allow complete environmental control of the facade, along with address the issue of how to clean the windows brought up in my previous project. I decided that since the surrounding buildings had a strong vertical orientation; I would bring back the solid metal panels and use them to give my building that same verticality, as well as expressing the structure.
